David Botstein

Breakthrough Prize National Medal of Science

David Botstein has been the Director of the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics at Princeton University since 2003. (For more information on this institute and its unique program, see Botstein’s talk. Prior to this, Botstein was a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University. He also worked in the biotechnology industry as Vice President-Science at Genentech.

Botstein is well known for making breakthroughs in gene mapping and genomic analysis techniques. Currently, his lab works to understand how cellular growth rate is controlled under different environmental conditions.

Botstein is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Medicine, amongst other honors.
