In this talk, Dr. Schekman describes the many different cell membranes found inside a cell and how they are organized to facilitate protein secretion. He explains the important contributions of electron microscopy, fluorescent microscopy and temperature-sensitive mutations to understanding the structure, location, and interactions of different cell membranes.
Dr. Randy Schekman is a Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of California, Berkeley, and an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
